Survivor: Japan is the fifthteenth season of Matt's Survivor Series. The season was filmed in Tokyo, Japan.

The sixteen contestants, referred to as "castaways", were originally split up into two tribes of eight.  The tribe names were Tategami and Kuma, which mean "tiger" and "bear" respectively.  The merged tribe was named by the ten castaways who made the merge.  It was named ???, which ???.  After 39 days of competition, Jeff Lloyd was given the title of Sole Survivor, defeating Victoria Harding and Jessica Simon in an 4-2-1 vote.  This season, featured a WWE Diva. Brie Bella, known for being apart of the Bella Twins with her sister Nikki, placed 4th this season.

A new twist to the game called the Kidnapped Twist was instituted.   The winning tribe of the Reward Challenge got to "kidnap" one member of the opposing tribe.  The kidnapped tribe member then received a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol, however, had to give the clue to a member of the tribe that kidnapped them.

Peyton McClay was also awarded the $100,000 Verizon Player of the Season prize, receiving 51% of the vote, while Jessica Simon and Buzz Allen came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Simon and McClay returned to compete in Survivor: Micronesia, where they placed 2nd and 13th, respectively.

Castaways

There were sixteen people, known as "castaways", that were divided into two tribes, Tategami and Kuma. After six castaways were voted out, the ten left merged into one tribe, ???. Seven castaways made up the jury, who ultimately decided who would win the game and the title of Sole Survivor.
